San Diego Padres 2010 Season
The San Diego Padres surprised many in the baseball world when they nearly advanced to the 2010 Major League Baseball postseason for the first time since 2006. However, their hopes and dreams were dashed on the final day of the regular season in a 3-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Although the Giants qualified on the final day, they advanced all the way to the World Series and captured their first World Series as a franchise in California.
Manager of the Year
The San Diego Padres finished with a 90-72 record in the 2010 MLB season. Manager Bud Black did a terrific job guiding the team to nearly a postseason birth. He was the winner of the 2010 National League Manager of the Year, edging out Dusty Baker of the Cincinnati Reds. In the 2010 season, first baseball Adrian Gonzalez led the way with a 2.98 batting average, 31 home runs, and 101 runs batted in. Third basemen Chase Headley hit 11 home runs, drove in 58 home runs, and hit .264.
