Padres 2011 Season Review
By San Diego Padres Ticket Staff Writer: A. Hintz
The San Diego Padres finished their eighth season at Petco Park at 71-91 and 5th in the NL West standings. While the season was somewhat of a disappointment, the Padres are looking to improve in the offseason.
Runs scored: The Padres scored 593 runs this season. That was 72 runs fewer than 2010 and the Padres lowest total in a non-strike season since the 1980 team scored 591. The run total also marked the 10th-lowest total in franchise history. However, the Padres did score 19 more runs than the 2010 World Series champions San Francisco Giants.
Home runs: The Padres hit only 91 home runs this season. It is the lowest total by a Padres team since the 1982 team hit only 81. The Padres hit more home runs at Petco Park (46) than they did on the road (45).
Batting average: The Padres hit .237 this season compared to .246 last year. The overall batting average was the lowest since the Padres moved into their current park and the lowest overall team batting average since the 1974 Padres hit .229.
ERA: The Padres staff ERA of 3.42 was just above last season's 3.39. It was the eighth-lowest staff ERA in Padres history.
